Lava Stone & Chakra Bead Meditation Mala
This tool has been used for centuries to help focus the mind by tracking the repetition of mantras. This mala features black lava stone beads and colorful chakra-aligned beads. Add your favorite essential oils to the porous lava stones as a diffuser to enhance your focus and relaxation during your practice.
1. Set Your Intention
Before you begin, find a comfortable, quiet place to sit. Hold your mala in your right hand, draped between your middle and index fingers. Take a few deep, grounding breaths and set an intention or choose a mantra (a word or phrase that holds meaning for you, such as "peace," "I am enough," or a traditional Sanskrit mantra).
2. Begin at the "Guru" Bead
Start at the large bead connected to the tassel, known as the guru bead (the tree of life charm serves as this focal point). You do not count this bead; it serves as your starting and ending marker.
3. Count Your Mantras
Using your thumb, pull the first bead toward you.
With each bead, recite your chosen mantra either silently or aloud.
Continue to the next bead, pulling it toward you with your thumb, and repeat your mantra.
Proceed around the necklace, one bead at a time, until you return to the guru bead.
4. Completing the Practice
Once you reach the guru bead again, you have completed one full cycle. If you wish to continue your meditation for longer, you can pause at the guru bead to reflect, offer gratitude, or simply turn the mala around and count back in the opposite direction (without skipping over the guru bead).
